Extra Care Scheme Manager – Lead a Cluster of Outstanding Schemes

Location: Winchester, Hampshire

Contract: Permanent | Full-time | On-site

Are you a care leader ready to take full ownership of a thriving local cluster of Extra Care services?

We’re working exclusively on behalf of a respected care provider to recruit a dynamic Extra Care Scheme Manager in Winchester — a role that blends service leadership, people management, and operational growth across three well-established Extra Care schemes.

About the Role

You’ll oversee three purpose-built Extra Care settings in Winchester:

  • Apartment flagship scheme delivered in partnership with Winchester City Council, with beautiful communal spaces and a housing-led model.
  • A CQC-registered, high-performing Extra Care site rated Good.
  • Flat scheme supporting independence and dignity, backed by a dedicated on-site care team.

Each site supports older adults in self-contained apartments with on-site 24/7 care. You’ll lead a combined team of 25–35 care staff and team leaders, with full responsibility for rotas, care delivery, audits, compliance, staff supervision, and stakeholder engagement.

You’ll report to a Regional Manager but enjoy true day-to-day autonomy — this is your service to shape and grow.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a hands-on, organised, and inspiring leader who:

  • Has proven experience in managing regulated care (e.g. Extra Care, Supported Living, or Domiciliary).
  • Understands CQC compliance, safeguarding, audits, and quality frameworks.
  • Is confident managing teams across multiple sites or service types.
  • Can liaise effectively with local authority housing teams, commissioners, and families.
  • Thrives in a role where care quality, operational leadership, and commercial performance are equally valued.
  • Is passionate about empowering staff and delivering truly person-centred care.
  • Lives within a realistic commuting distance of Winchester.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Leading care delivery across three Extra Care sites
  • Supervising care teams, planning rotas, handling appraisals and team meetings
  • Maintaining compliance with CQC, safeguarding, health and safety, and internal QA
  • Liaising with housing partners, social workers, GPs, and families
  • Growing the service in line with 10% per annum expectations
  • Managing budgets, reporting on KPIs, and ensuring high service occupancy
  • Supporting internal recruitment and staff retention efforts
  • Promoting dignity, inclusion, and excellence in care at every level
