Qualifications

Responsibilities

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 18:00

Purpose Of the Role

Coordinate and manage international road freight shipments for imports and exports, ensuring legal compliance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Planning, booking, and tracking shipments from start to end.
  2. Organising collection via internal/external partners.
  3. Creating and processing shipments with accuracy and issuing freight documentation (Consignment notes, CMR, BL, EUR1, etc.).
  4. Coordinating with hauliers, warehouses, and customs agents.
  5. Monitoring shipment progress and resolving delays proactively.
  6. Acting as the main contact for customers regarding shipment status and issues.
  7. Entering and verifying data in freight systems.
  8. Supporting invoicing and cost control by reviewing transport charges and services.
  9. Ensuring compliance with Incoterms, EU regulations, and company policies.
  10. Managing proof of delivery (POD) documentation and archiving.
  11. Liaising with partners to manage urgent shipments and deliveries.
  12. Creating GMR (Goods Movement Reference) from customs systems.
  13. Arranging ferry or tunnel crossings between the UK and EU.
  14. Conducting dangerous goods compatibility checks.
  15. Preparing documents for international drivers (e.g., CMR, customs paperwork).
  16. Assisting with holiday cover within the team.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Proficiency in freight forwarding software.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in international road freight operations.
  • Familiarity with customs documentation and compliance regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage logistics schedules efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, carriers, and customs officials.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in tracking shipments and managing freight costs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Team player with good organisational and multitasking abilities.
