Export Channel Development Manager - Farringdon/Hybrid

Competitive salary plus £4800 car allowance or £4300 as cash via payroll each month (£358.33), healthcare, 18% annual bonus potential, 27.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays rising with service, and a company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Royal Mail as an Export Channel Development Manager. In this role, you'll lead the channel strategy for the consumer export profit centre which represents approximately £300m of revenue and gross profit of approximately £140m.

This role focuses on developing a consumer channel strategy to allocate resources effectively and deliver targeted returns across physical, digital, and marketplace channels. The goal is to address declining sales and drive growth in consumer channels aligned with overall market trends.

About the role

In this role, you'll:

  1. Be accountable for achieving specific profit, revenue, and volume targets across multiple channels and develop analytical frameworks to support an integrated consumer channel strategy.
  2. Manage the International Export consumer tariff pricing strategy across all sales channels, including ad hoc pricing changes and reporting on their effects.
  3. Maintain critical relationships and develop product enhancements to protect and grow major marketplaces such as Etsy (£16m) and eBay (£2.5m).
  4. Build propositions for online and POL channels, working with cross-functional teams to deliver consumer-focused solutions.
  5. Align export consumer strategy with domestic strategies where appropriate, collaborating with teams across domestic, technology, legal, and others to improve performance.
  6. Develop a roadmap of interventions to enhance RM export credibility in current and potential marketplaces, including commercial engagement and development plans with Amazon.
  7. Manage marketing and sector engagement plans in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, external agencies, Group Communications/PR, and others.
  8. Implement performance management and profit growth frameworks aligned with domestic teams but focused on Export needs.
  9. Work closely with Pricing and Finance to develop a dynamic pricing approach focused on key lanes by channel.
  10. Ensure the overall consumer proposition is tailored and calibrated by channel, with a commercial development roadmap to drive growth and align with Export Portfolio Transformation.
About you

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Proven experience in marketing and sales.
  • Strong background in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships.
  • Success in adapting strategies to changing market conditions.
  • Leadership experience in international logistics.
  • A track record of channel management, including initiatives to drive profitable growth across multiple channels.

  • In-depth knowledge of the UK parcel market and sales channels.
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision-making using analytics tools.
