Lead the channel strategy for the consumer export profit centre, which represents c.£300m of revenue and gross profit of c.£140m. This channel is poorly understood yet is critical to the RM turnaround plan.

Drive the development of a consumer channel strategy to ensure effective allocation of resources and delivery of targeted returns across physical, digital, and marketplace channels. Specifically, to arrest the decline in sales and put the consumer channels on a path of growth in line with the rest of the market.

About the role

In this role, you'll:

  1. Be accountable for achievement of specific profit/revenue/volume targets across multiple channels and develop an analytical framework to drive the delivery of an integrated consumer channel strategy.
  2. Be responsible for the International Export consumer tariff pricing strategy across all sales channels, ad hoc pricing changes, and corresponding reporting on effects.
  3. Be accountable for critical relationships and product enhancements to protect and grow major marketplaces such as Etsy (£16m), eBay (£2.5m).
  4. Build propositions for online and POL channels and work with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that drive consumer strategy.
  5. Align export consumer strategy where appropriate with that of domestic and work closely with multiple functions including domestic, technology, legal, and others to drive performance.
  6. Develop a roadmap of targeted interventions to increase the credibility of RM export offers for current and potential marketplaces, including a commercial engagement and development plan with Amazon.
  7. Develop and manage marketing and sector engagement plans working with sales, marketing, external agencies, Group Comms/PR, and others.
  8. Implement performance management and profit growth frameworks aligned with domestic teams but focused on export needs.
  9. Work closely with Pricing and Finance to develop a more dynamic pricing approach focused on key lanes by channel.
  10. Ensure that the overall consumer proposition is tailored and calibrated by channel with a commercial development roadmap to improve offers, drive growth, and align with Export Portfolio Transformation.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Proven experience in marketing and sales.
  • Strong background in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships.
  • Success in adapting strategies quickly to changing market conditions.
  • Proven leadership in international logistics.
  • Track record of channel management, delivering initiatives to drive profitable growth across multiple channels.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative leadership approach.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK parcel market and sales channels.
  • Proficient in data-driven decision-making using analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of the UK consumer and small business e-commerce market.
  • Exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills.
