Job summary

Coventry City Council is hiring a Teaching Assistant for John Gulson Primary School in Coventry (CV1 4HB). The role is term-time only with a 35-hour week, assisting Year 3 and Year 4 pupils and supporting learning under teacher guidance.

You will deliver small group interventions, monitor progress, and help create an inclusive, safe classroom environment, with strong emphasis on safeguarding and welfare.

• Experience of, or strong knowledge of, the Year 3 and Year 4 national curriculum.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or 4 or above, or equivalent qualifications, and a high standard of spoken and written English.

Help children feel they belong, build confidence and make progress at John Gulson Primary School in Coventry. We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to work primarily with pupils in Years 3 and 4. You will work closely with teachers to make learning accessible, support pupils in class and lead focused small group or individual work.

Working Hours:

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 8.30 am to 4.00 pm. Wednesday: 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. Friday: 8.30 am to 3.30 pm.

Start Date: Monday 2 nd November 2026, or as soon after this date as possible.
