Job summary

Orion Group is seeking an experienced Shot Blaster to join our Ballygawley manufacturing team. You will prepare fabricated steel components and assemblies for painting, maintaining high standards of surface preparation, quality and safety.

Responsibilities include operating blasting equipment, handling large steel structures, and ensuring accurate production documentation. Overtime opportunities and a full-time 40-hour week are available in a specialist heavy engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating shot blasting equipment in heavy engineering, fabrication, manufacturing or steel processing environments.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and production documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated and manual shot blasting equipment safely and efficiently.
• Prepare large steel components for painting and final assembly.
• Load and unload components using cranes, forklifts and lifting equipment where authorised.
• Remove rust, scale, weld spatter, contamination and surface defects.
• Inspect blasted components to ensure surface prep standards are met.
• Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
• Monitor abrasive media and maintain blasting equipment for optimum performance.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
• Maintain housekeeping and support production schedules.
• Follow all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
