Job summary

Kinetic Recruitment is supporting a manufacturing specialist with recruitment for 2 x Shotblasters in Tameside. The role focuses on abrasive blast cleaning and preparation of steel components prior to coating, with full training provided.

Working as part of the production team, you will operate blast equipment, ensure quality standards, and maintain safe working practices. Licences such as FLT/OHC are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Essential: good attention to detail, able to work safely in an industrial environment, physically capable of manual handling, able to follow work instructions and quality procedures, good communication and team working skills, reliable and punctual.
• Desirable: experience in shot blasting or surface preparation, coatings/fabrication/manufacturing environment knowledge, FLT licence, Overhead Crane licence, ISO 8501-1 knowledge, ISO 9001 experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate shot blasting equipment safely and effectively.
• Prepare steel components by removing rust, scale, paint and contaminants.
• Achieve surface preparation standards (e.g., SA 2.5).
• Inspect blasted surfaces for cleanliness and profile.
• Load/unload components in blast booth.
• Handle materials using overhead cranes where trained.
• Maintain production records and traceability.
• Perform routine equipment checks and report defects.
• Maintain good housekeeping.
• Work with coating operatives to meet targets.
• Assist with packing and movement of finished goods.

Training will be provided, so candidates with the right attitude and a strong industrial background who are looking to develop their skills are also encouraged to apply.Pay Rate£14.00 per hour - without FLT and Overhead Crane (OHC) licences£14.50 per hour - with one licence FLT or Overhead Crane (OHC) licences£15.00 per hour - with both FLT and Overhead Crane (OHC) licences

The Role

Working as part of the production team, you will be responsible for the abrasive blast cleaning and preparation of steel components and fabricated products prior to coating.

• Operating shot blasting equipment safely and effectively.
• Preparing steel components by removing rust, scale, paint and other contaminants.
• Achieving required surface preparation standards, including SA 2.5 where applicable.
• Inspecting blasted surfaces to ensure required cleanliness and profile standards are achieved.
• Loading and unloading components within the blast booth.
• Handling materials using overhead cranes and lifting equipment where trained and authorised.
• Completing production paperwork and maintaining traceability records.
• Carrying out routine equipment checks and reporting defects or maintenance requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping within the workplace.
• Working closely with coating operatives, inspectors and supervisors to meet production targets.
• Assisting with the packing, handling and movement of finished goods when required.
• Working in accordance with all Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.

• Knowledge of surface preparation standards such as ISO 8501-1.
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality environment.

Training Provided

Full training and development will be available, including:

• Shot blasting techniques and operation.
• Safe use of plant and equipment.
• Health & Safety procedures.
• Quality and inspection requirements.
• Manual handling.
• FLT and Overhead Crane training where applicable.

Working Hours

• Early Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pm
• Late Shift: Monday - Wednesday, 2:00pm - 12:00am Thursday, 2:00pm - 11:30pm
• Both shifts are 37.5 hours per week
• Some flexibility, including overtime, may be required to support production requirements.
