Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd in Chelmsford is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide support to pupils with additional needs throughout the school day, 5 days a week.

The role involves one-to-one and small-group support, helping with learning, communication, engagement and personal development. You will assist the class teacher with differentiated activities and collaborate with SEND professionals to create a calm, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills
• Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour where required

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience working with children, young people or adults with additional needs, ideally within SEND, education, care or support work
• A patient, caring and resilient approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Confidence supporting pupils with a variety of individual needs
• A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved throughout the school day
• A genuine commitment to supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing
• Previous school experience is beneficial; however, candidates with experience in care, support work, healthcare, youth work or other transferable backgrounds are also encouraged to apply
