TeacherActive Limited is seeking an experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school and college in Chelmsford. The role involves supporting children and young people with complex SEND (3-19) across the school day, including personal care and mobility support.

The ideal candidate has extensive SEND experience, a calm approach to challenging behaviour, and the ability to build strong relationships within a dedicated SEND team.

Competenze

• Previous SEND experience is ESSENTIAL for this position.
• Experience supporting pupils with complex needs is required.
• Strong safeguarding and premises handling awareness preferred.

Mansioni

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEND.

This position requires someone with significant hands-on SEND experience who is confident supporting pupils with complex needs, challenging behaviour and personal care requirements.

What will you be doing?

As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you'll be supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including:

• Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

• Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

• Complex communication and sensory needs

• Physical disabilities and mobility difficulties

• Behaviours that challenge

• Personal care and additional physical support needs

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEND.

• Supporting pupils with personal care, including toileting, dressing and feeding where required.

• Assisting with moving and handling in accordance with training and individual care plans.

• Managing and de-escalating challenging situations using positive behaviour support strategies.

• Supporting non-verbal pupils and those who use alternative communication methods.

• Helping pupils access sensory activities and individualised learning programmes.

• Encouraging independence, communication and emotional development.

• Working closely with teachers, therapists and other specialist support staff.
