Job summary

New Appointments Group Ltd in Cranbrook is seeking an experienced HGV/LGV Driver for a varied role involving local and long-distance deliveries, vehicle checks, loading/unloading and ensuring goods are transported safely and efficiently.

You will work both independently and as part of a team, with flexibility for evenings and weekends as required. Counter Terrorism Clearance (CTC) will be pursued where applicable, and sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Valid UK HGV/LGV licence appropriate to vehicles driven.
• Experience driving vehicles over 7.5 tonnes.
• Experience with rigid and/or articulated vehicles.
• Understanding of UK road safety legislation and the Highway Code.
• Experience completing vehicle defect checks and tachograph records.
• Good communication with customers and suppliers.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and practical vehicle experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Drive rigid and articulated commercial vehicles as required.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Safely load, unload and secure goods.
• Complete local and long-distance deliveries and collections.
• Plan routes with the transport team and liaise with customers and suppliers.
• Maintain delivery paperwork, logbooks and tachograph records.
• Follow health and safety procedures and road safety rules.
• Support depot duties when driving work is not available.
