Job Description: De-Prep Technician – AV, Lighting & Special Effects

Department: Warehouse Operations

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced de-prep technician to join our warehouse team. This role involves processing and testing equipment returned from events and rentals. Our technicians ensure QC by checking, testing, cleaning, and preparing our equipment to 100% condition for the next hire.

This is a key role in the operational flow of our business, requiring an organised individual with technical proficiency and a proactive attitude. You’ll be working with high-spec AV, lighting, and special effects equipment, supporting the smooth turnaround of our hire stock.

Key Responsibilities

• Process returned equipment from completed jobs, ensuring nothing is missing
• Visually inspect all kit for signs of damage, faults, or excessive wear
• Functionally test items using basic procedures to confirm they are operational
• Clean, reset, and repack gear to hire-ready standard
• Report any issues to the Repairs or Technical team
• Update inventory through warehouse scanning systems (where applicable)
• Return items to correct shelf locations, maintaining the warehouse layout and flow
• Work closely with Check-In and Prep teams to ensure a seamless cycle of stock

What We’re Looking For

• Prior experience in AV, lighting, or special effects rental (preferred)
• A strong eye for detail and high standards of work
• Ability to follow structured processes and quality checks
• Comfortable with all aspects of technical testing
• Organised, efficient, and able to prioritise
• Calm and focused under pressure
• A strong team player with good communication skills
• Physically fit – this is an active, manual role
• Familiarity with PAT testing, cable testing, or basic fault-finding
• Warehouse experience using scanning or stock management systems
• Experience in fast-paced event environments
