Job summary

North Coast Excavations is seeking an Experienced 360 Excavator Operator to work full-time on-site in Caithness. You will operate 360 excavators for digging, grading, and moving materials on domestic and commercial sites while following site plans and safety procedures.

You will also support concrete finishing and groundworks tasks, including trenching, drainage, and site leveling, and remove gorse/whin vegetation as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating 360 excavators on construction or groundworks sites.
• Practical skills in concrete finishing and groundworks (foundations, drainage, site prep).
• Ability to clear vegetation such as gorse and whin using appropriate methods.
• Strong health and safety awareness and PPE use.
• Valid operator licenses for 360 excavators.
• Ability to read basic site plans and follow instructions.
• Reliable, punctual and team-oriented.

Role Description

The Experienced 360 Excavator Operator role is a full-time, on-site position based in Caithness, Day-to-day responsibilities include operating 360 excavators for digging, grading, and moving materials on domestic and commercial sites, while following site plans and safety procedures. The role involves supporting concrete finishing work, assisting with groundworks such as trenching, foundations, drainage, and site leveling, and carrying out gorse and whin removal and other vegetation clearance tasks. The operator will inspect and maintain equipment, report any issues promptly, and coordinate with site supervisors and colleagues to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to specification. This position requires working safely in varying weather and site conditions and contributing to a respectful, team-oriented work environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating 360 excavators in construction, groundworks, or related environments.
• Practical skills in concrete finishing and domestic/commercial groundworks (e.g., foundations, drainage, site preparation).
• Ability to carry out vegetation and land clearance tasks, including gorse and whin removal, using appropriate methods and equipment.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices, including safe plant operation, PPE use, and adherence to site rules.
• Valid operator or plant machinery certifications/licenses relevant to 360 excavators.
• Ability to read and follow basic site plans and instructions, with good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with supervisors, trades, and other team members.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and perform manual tasks as required.
• Full, clean driving license and reliable transport to reach different sites is highly beneficial.
