Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking an experienced Design Manager in Exeter to lead the design process from pre-construction through to delivery. You will coordinate architectural, structural and M&M disciplines, manage external consultants, and ensure designs meet programme, budget and regulatory requirements.

The role requires strong communication, proactive problem solving and a track record in main contracting environments.

Qualifications

• Degree in a construction-related field (preferred).
• Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIOB) would be advantageous.
• Strong technical knowledge across architectural, structural and M&M design principles.
• Excellent communication and negotiation with clients, consultants and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design process from bid/pre-construction through to project delivery.
• Establish and lead design teams with architects, engineers, consultants and supply chain partners.
• Coordinate external design consultants to ensure quality and compliance with brief and requirements.
• Lead design reviews to monitor progress, identify risks and resolve issues.
• Ensure designs comply with legislation, building regs, planning and fire regulations.
• Coordinate design activities with the project team and statutory bodies to meet programme dates.
• Manage design development within cost parameters and support selection of materials and methods.
