Job summary

RGB in Exeter is seeking an experienced Design Manager for a permanent role. You will lead the design from pre-construction to delivery for a main contractor handling projects up to £20m, across Education, Healthcare, Leisure, Commercial and Student Accommodation sectors.

The role is full-time in Exeter, with a proactive, commercially aware approach to steer diverse schemes across the Southwest. You will collaborate with clients, consultants and supply chain partners, ensuring designs are

Qualifications

A construction-related degree, HNC or HND.
Membership of CIOB would be advantageous.
Strong technical knowledge across construction design principles, including architectural, structural and M&E disciplines.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the design process from bid/pre-construction through to project delivery.
Establish and lead effective design teams with architects, engineers, consultants and supply chain partners.
Manage external design consultants and ensure design quality and compliance with the brief.
Lead design reviews, monitor progress, identify risks and drive value, buildability and innovation.
Ensure designs comply with legislation, building regulations, planning and fire safety requirements.
Coordinate design activities with programme milestones and project objectives.
Manage design development within cost parameters and support material selection and sustainability.
