The HR Onboarding Officer role is a critical part of the DHSC resourcing team. The role includes managing candidates from recruitment campaigns from their offer through the onboarding and new starter stages, managing referrals and queries, and ensuring that vacancy holders and candidates are updated on progress. This involves managing enquiries via the shared mailbox.

Resourcing is a fast-paced, varied, and demanding area of work, with a team that puts their customers at the heart of everything they do. We are dedicated to a high-performance culture, continually establishing and embedding new ways of working to ensure continuous improvement. We work in a collaborative team environment with a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

We are responsible for all DHSC recruitment activity, ensuring compliance with the Civil Service Commission's Recruitment Principles and other legislative requirements.

Person specification

Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing candidates from their offer to ID checks, including answering queries, providing recruitment guidance, and liaising with the Government Recruitment Service (GRS) and other stakeholders.
  2. Managing the team mailbox, including responding to queries of varying complexity.
  3. Regularly updating vacancy tracking spreadsheets.
  4. Collaborating closely with GRS, HR Operations, and Payroll.
  5. Working to tight deadlines, taking ownership, and collaborating with others to respond quickly to queries.
  6. Handling information and data correctly, following policies and procedures to maintain confidentiality and accessibility.
  7. Supporting wider HR projects and building strong working relationships.
