Job summary

The Glamorganshire Golf Club is seeking a General Manager to lead day-to-day operations and drive strategic delivery across course, pro shop, hospitality and administration. You will work closely with the Board to translate strategy into action and ensure excellent member and visitor experiences.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong budgeting and people-management skills, with a track record of delivering improvements while maintaining a member-owned club ethos.

Qualifications

• Senior management experience in golf club or similar multi‑department environment.
• Strong budgeting, financial controls and revenue development.
• Proven leadership of diverse operational teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a Board.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible day-to-day leadership across all club functions.
• Translate Board strategy into operational plans and measurable outcomes.
• Report to Board/committees with timely, accurate advice.
• Manage external suppliers and service providers for value and quality.
• Oversee recruitment, induction, development and appraisals.
• Lead the annual business planning and budgeting with the Finance Manager.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, licensing and regulatory obligations.
• Promote heritage assets and organise events and sponsorships.
