About NACNS

NACNS is the national authority on clinical nurse specialists' (CNS) practice, education, and research. We are committed to advancing the visibility, influence, and impact of CNSs as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) worldwide. We seek a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to help lead this important work.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  2. Advocate for CNS practice rights and report on initiatives addressing practice threats.
  3. Manage budgeting in coordination with the Treasurer and Finance Committee.
  4. Engage with affiliate leaders and committees to advance strategic priorities.
  5. Support and guide committees and board liaisons.
  6. Represent NACNS at external meetings and national events.
  7. Manage relationships with partner organizations and MOUs.
  8. Oversee educational activities, including continuing education and certification prep.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Leadership, strategic planning, and nonprofit management experience.
  • Proven collaboration with boards and achievement of outcomes.
  • Experience in advocacy/lobbying preferred.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and Nurse Planner experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree minimum; Master's or Doctorate preferred.
  • At least 10 years of leadership in nonprofit or healthcare-related organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
