An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly organised Executive Assistant to join the team and help manage the Director’s daily business and administration.
Working with initiative and a high degree of independence, as part of the Service Transformation Executive Office (STEO) you'll aid the Director to lead the work that Service Transformation does with Environment Agency colleagues, Defra, Government, and partners to create better places for people and wildlife.
Working closely with the STEO, the Leadership Team’s offices, colleagues from across the organisation, and external partners, you will:
- Manage the Director’s busy diary and mailbox, triage and distribute accordingly
- Co-ordinate the Director’s travel, annual leave and expenses
- Manage the shared inbox and be the initial contact for the STEO with the ability to action, commission requests or assign independently to others
- Handle and oversee all line manager and administrative tasks of the wider leadership team (expenses, leave, other SOP approvals, etc.)
- Work closely with the STEO to update the Director on day-to-day activities and priorities
- Provide support with coordinating leadership meetings
- Provide ad hoc support to the Director and their office, occasionally outside of the scope of your primary responsibilities
- Being able to work flexibly to support the Director as required

The team
The Service Transformation Executive Office is a small, supportive team that works together to deliver on behalf of the Director. As part of the team, you will be the key organiser. This includes helping the Director prioritise and deliver the organisation’s action plan by managing their daily activities and appointments accordingly.
Experience/skills Required
A fast-paced office where priorities can change quickly. You’ll need to be proactive, able to adapt quickly, willing to pick up the phone to established networks and have an outcome-based approach.
Essential:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to adapt to different audiences.
- Team player, able to identify and solve problems, knowing when to draw in support and able to use initiative and work independently.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills whilst working in a busy environment.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ability to join dots and draw conclusions based on available information.
- Experience supporting senior leaders.
- Good knowledge and understanding of organisational procedures and processes.
- Working with high level sensitive information
- Resilience , determination and ability to respond to changing situations
Desirable:
- Good business & corporate awareness.

The successful applicant can be based at any location, but the expectation is the successful candidate will occasionally co-locate with the Director in the South East with some limited travel around the country.
