Job summary

StepChange Debt Charity is seeking an experienced Executive Assistant to provide high‑quality support to the Executive Team. You will manage busy diaries, coordinate meetings and travel, prepare briefing papers and help keep senior leaders organised in a fast-paced charity environment.

Reporting to the Head of Executive Office, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across the organisation, handle confidential information with discretion and ensure materials are prepared in advance so the executives

Qualifications

  • Experience as an Executive Assistant or similar role in a busy environment.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and capable of handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive Executive Assistant support to members of the Executive Team, managing busy schedules and competing priorities.
  • Manage complex diaries, meetings, travel and inboxes, ensuring arrangements run smoothly and optimise Executive time.
  • Coordinate leadership meetings, workshops, away days, events and wider Executive Office activities.
  • Prepare and coordinate meeting papers, presentations, reports and briefing materials; take accurate notes and actions.
  • Support Executive Office projects and coordinate organisation-wide activities.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders; act as a trusted contact.
  • Maintain accurate records, action logs and administrative processes.
  • Collaborate with other Executive Assistants to provide seamless support across CEO Offices.
  • Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

About The Role

As an Executive Assistant, you'll provide high-quality support to our Executive Team, helping senior leaders manage busy schedules, changing priorities and the demands of a fast-paced organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Executive Office, you'll be responsible for coordinating diaries, meetings, travel and key activities while ensuring our Executive Team is well prepared, informed and able to focus on leading the charity.

No two days are the same. One day you might be coordinating leadership meetings, collating briefing materials, organising an event, supporting an Executive Office project or responding to changing priorities across the Executive Team. You'll need to be organised, proactive and comfortable adapting quickly as priorities evolve.

Working as part of a supportive Executive Office team, you'll build strong relationships across the organisation and play an important role in ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to build their experience by working closely with senior leaders across the charity.

What You'll Be Doing

Day to day, you'll:

  • Coordinate leadership meetings, workshops, away days, events and wider Executive Office activities.
  • Prepare and coordinate meeting papers, presentations, reports and briefing materials and take accurate meeting notes and actions.
  • Support Executive Office projects and help coordinate organisation-wide activities.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted point of contact.
  • Maintain accurate records, action logs and administrative processes.
  • Work collaboratively with other Executive Assistants to provide seamless support and cover across the Executive and CEO Offices.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.

You Will Bring
  • Experience as an Executive Assistant, Personal Assistant or in a similar administrative or coordination role, within a busy and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, anticipate needs, use initiative and adapt quickly as demands change.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work effectively with senior leaders, colleagues and external stakeholders and a collaborative approach to working as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, together with a proactive, flexible and collaborative approach to supporting others.
