Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Section Manager, the role of Excavator and Dredger Operative is part of a key team producing dry aggregates material for the construction industry. The role involves delivering excellent Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality performance for our Plant operations. Specific responsibilities include:

• Working with aggregates on site and operating machinery and mobile plant (including Loading Shovels, Long Reach Excavators, and ADTs)
• Operating Suction Dredger on site to extract sand and gravel
• Day-to-day maintenance of the plant, maintaining high standards of housekeeping
• Training and operating static plant to help optimize plant performance
• Working as part of a small team to ensure quality and timely deliveries, as well as working independently
• Maximizing plant availability
• Assisting the Section Manager in meeting production targets
• Promoting a culture of zero harm and behavioral safety
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety measures around the site

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have proven experience, preferably within a similar aggregates, industrial, or factory environment, as an Operative or Labourer, ideally operating mobile plant equipment.

Suitable candidates will also demonstrate:

• Experience operating mobile plant including Loading Shovels, Long Reach Excavators, and ADTs
• Knowledge of risk assessments (preferably within an operative role)
• Good timekeeping and time management skills
• A flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of a multi-skilled operational team, adapting to various tasks
• Ability to work independently operating mobile plant equipment
• Self-motivation and the ability to engage and motivate colleagues
• Good communication skills
• Industry knowledge and experience with mobile plant and quarrying (training provided if needed)
• Experience in a health and safety-focused environment
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Confident IT skills with attention to detail
• Shovel, Excavator, and ADT licences (preferred but not essential)
