Job summary

West Somerset College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Exams Officer to manage the administration, organisation and conduct of internal and external examinations, ensuring compliance with awarding body regulations and statutory requirements. The role is part-time (30 hours per week), 41 weeks per year, permanent, with an actual starting salary of £21,153.05 per annum.

  • Experience of examination administration or a detailed administrative role; Arbor experience advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, organise and conduct internal and external examinations in line with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
  • Manage examination entries, timetables, invigilation and day-of procedures.
  • Process post-results services and maintain confidential records.
  • Liaise with staff, students, parents and awarding bodies to ensure smooth examination delivery.

West Somerset College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Exams Officer to play a key role in ensuring the smooth administration and delivery of examinations. Part time - 30 hours per week, 41 weeks per year (term-time plus INSET days), Permanent

Salary: BTCT Band 6, Points 10-12. Actual starting salary: £21,153.05 per annum

About the Role

As our Exams Officer, you will be responsible for the administration, organisation, and conduct of both internal and external examinations, ensuring compliance with awarding body regulations and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a comprehensive examinations support service across the academy.
  • Managing examination entries, timetables, and associated administration.
  • Coordinating invigilation arrangements and examination-day procedures.
  • Ensuring examinations are conducted in accordance with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
  • Processing and managing post-results services.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Liaising effectively with staff, students, parents, invigilators, and awarding bodies.
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent ICT skills and is confident using management information systems and databases.
  • Is highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Has exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can work calmly and efficiently under pressure, particularly during busy examination periods.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Has experience of examination administration or a similarly detailed administrative role. Experience of Arbor would be advantageous but is not essential.
