Job summary

The Romsey School is seeking an Exams Assistant to support access arrangements, assessments and examinations. This part-time role is 30 hours per week during term time, with core hours 9am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, and flexible pattern for exam periods.

You will work closely with the Exams Officer and SEND team, coordinating assessments, organising rooms and timetables, and maintaining accurate records to ensure smooth examinations in line with JCQ regulations.

  • Experience in an educational or administrative setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer access arrangement assessments for students.
  • Liaise with the SEND team to identify students requiring assessment and support.
  • Organise rooms, staffing and paperwork for in-class assessments and examinations.
  • Maintain accurate records and evidence required for access arrangements.
  • Process and distribute information relating to dyslexia screening and specialist reports.
  • Support the preparation of examination materials and student paperwork.
  • Assist with examination timetabling, rooming and invigilator allocation.
  • Help train staff who undertake invigilation duties.
  • Work alongside the Exams Officer during examination periods to ensure examinations run smoothly and in line with JCQ regulations.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Exams Officer and SEND department.

Exams Assistant

Part Time: 30 hours per week term time

Working Hours: Core hours will be 9am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday

with a flexible working pattern to ensure full examination coverage during exam periods, with time off in lieu where appropriate.

Salary: Support Staff Scale C, £26,017 to £27,110 FTE per annum
Actual Salary: £18,092.90 to £18,853 per annum

Fixed term contract to end of July 2027

The Romsey School is seeking a dedicated Exams Assistant to support the smooth administration of access arrangements, assessments and examinations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills who enjoys working collaboratively and thrives in a busy school environment.

Working closely with the Exams Officer, SEND Team and wider school staff, you will play a key role in ensuring that students receive the support they need during both internal and external assessments and examinations.

About the Role
