A leading recruitment agency is seeking an Examinations Support Assistant for a temporary role in South East London. The successful candidate will support the Examinations Team to ensure high-quality service delivery during exams, engaging with candidates and maintaining an orderly environment in exam rooms.

Period of Work: 2 weeks - 14th to 25th July 2025
Hours of Work: 09:00 - 15:30
Location: South East London
Salary: £15 per hour
Role Overview:
To support the day-to-day operations of the Examinations Team in delivering a high-quality examinations service.
Essential Experience & Attributes:
Prior experience in exam invigilation, ideally within a school or higher education setting
Familiarity with exam regulations and an understanding of rules and procedures
Confident in giving instructions and directions to large groups
Observant and alert to the exam environment and student behaviour
Able to remain calm and think clearly under pressure — essential when working with large groups (exams may involve up to 350 students)
Duties Include:
Directing candidates to the correct exam room
Instructing candidates to check their examination desk number on the candidate seating lists before entering the exam room
Directing any candidate unable to find their name on the list to the nearest member of exams staff
Advising candidates to turn off and store electronic devices as directed and ensure they have their ID cards to hand
Admitting candidates to the exam room when directed, ensuring a quiet and calm entry
Verifying student ID cards upon entry and advising on next steps if a card is missing
Monitoring the number of candidates entering an exam room to avoid overcrowding
Removing and securing mobile phones not properly stored and handing them to an invigilator
Permitting late entry up to 30 minutes after the start of the exam
Referring candidates who arrive more than 30 minutes late to exams staff
Reporting any discrepancies or irregularities to exams staff
Realigning exam desks and clearing litter before and after exams
Checking and reporting cleanliness issues in nearby washrooms before and after exams
Performing any other operational exam-related duties as directed
