Job summary

Ampleforth College in the Yorkshire valley invites applications for Examinations Invigilators to uphold the integrity of assessment sessions and provide a reassuring presence to students.

An ideal candidate will be reliable, flexible, and ready to work during exam periods; you should have good communication, teamwork, and basic IT skills, with training provided.

Experience in a school setting is preferred but not essential; hours vary with January, April, May and June exams.

We have a number of opportunities for Examinations Invigilators to join our team, to ensure the integrity of examination sessions and to ensure security of examination papers. To provide a reassuring presence to students and to ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.

An ideal candidate will:

• be reliable, flexible and readily available during examination periods
• have effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills
• work well as part of a team
• be confident and a reassuring presence to candidates in examination rooms
• be able to give instructions and manage situations involving young people
• have basic IT skills (familiar with use of email, mobile phone messaging, etc.)
• seek to achieve competence in the role and a rigorous understanding of Cambridge International & JCQ regulations

General requirements of the role include:

• Experience of invigilation is not required as training in the role and duties of an invigilator will be provided
• Invigilators are required to:
• declare whether they have invigilated previously and whether they have any current maladministration or malpractice sanctions applied to them
• Conflict of Interest must be declared
• confirm their availability in advance of examination periods
