Job summary

Bury College is seeking reliable Casual Examination Invigilators to join our Exams Team to support the delivery of internal and external exams across college centres.

As an Examiner Invigilator you will ensure exams are conducted fairly and securely in line with JCQ regulations and college procedures. Full training is provided, and prior invigilation experience is welcome but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up examination rooms and ensuring they meet the required standards before each examination.
  • Arriving at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time and remaining until the examination has concluded and all required procedures have been completed.
  • Admitting students to examination rooms in a controlled and professional manner and ensuring they are seated correctly.
  • Checking candidate identification, attendance registers and seating plans.
  • Ensuring candidates understand and comply with examination regulations.
  • Clearly announcing the start and finish of examinations.
  • Actively invigilating examinations throughout, identifying and reporting any suspected malpractice or irregularities.
  • Supporting candidates with approved access arrangements, such as extra time and supervised rest breaks.
  • Supervising readers and scribes where required.
  • Providing appropriate assistance to candidates within examination regulations.
  • Reporting any discrepancies, concerns or issues to the Senior Invigilator or Exams Officer.
  • Supporting the delivery of online examinations and keeping up to date with relevant software and procedural changes.
  • Providing administrative support to the Exams Team when required.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality in all matters relating to examinations.

About the role

Bury College is looking to appoint reliable and responsible Casual Examination Invigilators to join our Exams Team and support the smooth and secure delivery of internal and external examinations across our college centres.

As an Examination Invigilator, you will play an important role in ensuring examinations are conducted fairly, consistently and in accordance with JCQ regulations and College procedures. You will help create a calm and supportive environment for students while maintaining the integrity and security of the examination process.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is organised, attentive and able to remain calm and professional in a busy environment. Previous experience of invigilation is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Important information

The successful candidate will be expected to work in accordance with JCQ examination regulations, College policies and procedures, safeguarding requirements, GDPR and data protection legislation.

Flexibility is important, as examination schedules and requirements can change throughout the academic year. You will be expected to be available for the November exams.
