Job summary

Derby City Council is seeking reliable Exam Invigilators to support The Bemrose School in Derby. The role is casual, with hours arranged around the exam timetable from October to June, starting Autumn 2026.

You will assist the Exams Officer with setup, supervision and post-exam duties, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and examination rules. Training is paid; availability can be flexible.

Candidates should be empathetic toward young adults and able to work under exam pressure.

Location: The Bemrose School, Derby
Required to start from Autumn 2026

We seek to appoint enthusiastic, motivated and diligent Exam Invigilators who are thorough and empathetic with the pressure students are under in exams whilst administering the clear examination guidance laid out.

In this key role, you will support the Exams officer in the setup, management and close downs of exams. The exam series will run from October through to the end of June in exam periods. You may not be needed daily, and we can work around your availability. There is a training element of this which successful applicant will be paid for. This is casual work and is needs led in pupil examination periods.

You will be supporting the exam process, and this is key in student achievement and progress through the exam process. We are looking to appoint a colleague with an empathy and an understanding of young adults.
