Job summary

Bedford Free School is seeking Exam Invigilators to support our examination seasons with reliability, punctuality and a calm, authoritative presence in exam rooms. You will set up rooms, manage papers and ensure JCQ rules are followed, while delivering a smooth candidate experience and working well within a team during busy exam periods.

Salary is National Living Wage (£12.71/hour) and shifts are arranged by the Line Manager.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Reliable, punctual and flexible with exam schedules.
  • Able to follow written instructions and JCQ rules.

Responsibilities

  • Be reliable, flexible and readily available during main exam periods.
  • Have effective communication skills, good interpersonal skills and be suitably dressed.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Be confident and a reassuring authoritative presence to candidates in exam rooms.
  • Be able to give instructions and manage situations involving different groups of people.
  • Have good IT skills.
  • Be able to memorise rules and regulations from Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ).
  • Understand and apply detailed written instructions, whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain Confidentiality.
  • Use initiative in response to unexpected situations.
  • Be aware and committed to equal opportunities and diversity.
  • Be able to exercise good judgement.

About this Role
Exam Invigilator

We are looking to recruit Exam Invigilatorswho have the right attitude and will represent our positive 'can do' ethos thatruns through our School. You will join our team of Exam Invigilatorsthat have an important role in delivering successful examination seasons at BedfordFree School.

Thepurpose of this role is to implement examination procedures and ensure theproper conduct of examination candidates. You will be responsible for settingup exam rooms and collecting, distributing and the returning of all papers andensuring all rules and regulations are followed.

Theideal candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills,an outstanding attendance and punctuality record, resilience, the ability towork in an organised and methodical manner.

Examinations are a crucial element of school life, and we want toensure that our students have the most efficient and effective experiencepossible. Therefore, we are looking to recruit Exam Invigilators on a casualbasis who will be instrumental in supporting this aim.

The successful candidate will:

Job Specifics

Start date: November 2026

Salary: National Living Wage £12.71 per hour

Job Role: Casualcontract, hours of work managed by Line manager arranging directly with you andagreeing your daily schedule for the internal and external exam seasons.

The Trust reserves theright to interview and appoint a suitable candidate before the deadline date.
