Compass Group PLC is recruiting for an Events Manager to join our university venues team, delivering exceptional hospitality at University College London (UCL) events. You will lead end-to-end event briefings, manage staff across campus sites, and ensure service aligns with CH&CO standards and client expectations.

You will build strong client relationships, monitor service quality, and drive continuous improvement through feedback and training, with a focus on safety, hygiene and delivering

Responsibilities

• Ensure client expectations of hospitality food and service are delivered in line with CH&CO brand.
• Lead full staff briefings for events detailing food and service standards.
• Monitor service and food quality; provide feedback to Hospitality Supervisor/service team and head chef.
• Contribute with the team to ensure service is professional and timely.
• Develop good working relationships with clients at events/sites.
• Build long-term relationships with regular and new hospitality customers.
• Work with Head of Hospitality to ensure correct staffing and optimal utilization for events.
• Prepare quotes for clients and events ensuring profits and margins are in line with budgets.
• Ensure staff adhere to COSHH and HACCP procedures, health and safety standards.

Food Service

• Ensure that the client expectations of hospitality food and food service are consistently delivered in line with the CH&CO brand.
• Ensure full briefings are given to all staff regarding events, detailing food and food service standards to ensure that the staff are fully aware of the client requirements and their role in delivery.
• Continually monitors the service and food provided at events and where necessary give feedback to the Hospitality Supervisor/ service team and the head chef to ensure the food and service is of the highest quality and in line with client requirements and the CH&CO style.
• To contribute with the team to ensure the service is provided in a professional and timely manner.

Relationship Management

• Develop a good working relationship with the client at the relevant event/ site.
• Build and pro-actively develop long-term relationships with regular and new hospitality customers
• In the absence of the Head of Hospitality act as the first point of reference for all client comments and concerns and take any necessary action.
• Actively gain customer feedback and to use the information to improve the offering at any given event.

Finance

• Working with the Head of Hospitality to ensure that correct number of staff are available for all events and that staff are utilised effectively and productively throughout.
• Understand and interpret the financial control systems relevant to Hospitality and use the information to measure performance and work with the Head of Hospitality to achieve Hospitality financial targets.
• Prepare quotes for clients and events independently assuring profits and margins are in line with budgets.

Managing/Developing a Team

• Ensure all staff carry out tasks in accordance with company health, hygiene, quality and safety standards as set out in the appropriate CH&CO manual.
• Support effective day to day performance management to all Hospitality staff.
• As directed by the Head of Hospitality provide induction, initial skills and on the job training for all Hospitality staff to ensure the service is delivered in line with client expectations and CH&CO standards.
• To report staff absence, timekeeping, sickness to the Head of Hospitality and where necessary provide the information to the relevant department in CH&CO.
• To provide feedback to any member of staff ensuring that all team members are aware of CH&CO standards and requirements and carry out their jobs to the best of their ability in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provide feedback on the suitability and reliability of casual staff to the relevant department in CH&CO.

Health & Safety

• To keep up to date with all COSHH and HACCP procedures and methods.
• Ensure all employees adhere to uniform standards.
• To report any equipment and/or building fabric faults and any hygiene, health and safety hazard to the relevant parties on site and in CH&CO.

Occasional Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for personal development looking for opportunities to expand knowledge of industry trends in food and food service, leadership and management practices.
• To attend training courses and attend CH&CO meetings when necessary.
