We are looking for an Events & Hospitality Operations Administrator to provide practical, hands-on support for events, courses and hospitality services at our York site. You will help prepare and set up event spaces, deliver hospitality, maintain clean and welcoming public areas during events, and complete the clean-down and reset of spaces afterwards.

Working closely with the Events & Hospitality Lead and wider teams, you will use event schedules and function sheets to help ensure that internal and external customers receive a professional, responsive and positive experience.

Please note, this role is on-site and requires flexibility in working hours to match the events we host in the Centre, including possible evenings and weekends.

You will bring a practical, dependable and customer-focused approach, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload. You will be comfortable working independently, using initiative and contributing positively as part of a team.

We are looking for someone with:

  • The ability to prepare, clean and reset event spaces to a consistently high standard.
  • The ability to follow event schedules, instructions, checklists and safety procedures accurately.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with confidence interacting professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Competent IT skills and a willingness to learn relevant in-house systems and technologies.
  • A flexible approach, including willingness to support occasional early morning, evening and weekend events by prior arrangement.
  • The ability to undertake the physical aspects of the role safely, including prolonged standing, regular movement between spaces and safe handling of furniture, equipment and supplies. Reasonable adjustments will be considered where appropriate.
The following would be desirable:
  • Experience in event operations, hospitality, catering, cleaning, facilities or a similar customer-facing environment.
  • Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certification. Training will be provided if this is not already held.
  • Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and COSHH requirements. Relevant training will be provided.
  • An appreciation of the education, events or visitor services sector.
