Job description

Job Title: Events Assistant

Salary: £23,300 - £27,650 (full time equivalent)

£16,642 - £19,750 (pro rata per annum)

Location: Pitt Building, Cambridge

Contract: Permanent, part time – 25 hours per week

We are looking for an enthusiastic and efficient individual to join our Pitt Building Events team as an Events Assistant, where you will provide a professional reception service at our prestigious and newly refurbished conference venue in Cambridge city centre.

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

About the role

In this front-facing role, you'll provide a professional reception service and support the smooth, successful delivery of meetings, events, training courses, and exhibitions. You'll be the first point of contact for visitors, helping to create a welcoming and memorable experience.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Deliver a warm, efficient, and professional reception service
  • Assist in the operational delivery of events, training sessions, and exhibitions
  • Promote our conference, event, and hospitality services
  • Support catering services and ensure high standards of presentation
  • Help maintain the safety, security, and appearance of the Pitt Building
  • Contribute to our environmental sustainability goals

This role is a part time job share, and the working hours will be Mon-Fri 12.45pm-17.45pm, although there will be opportunities for flexible hours, overtime and evening and weekend work.

About you

You will be confident working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment, with the ability to balance priorities and solve problems proactively. As a key member of our team, you'll gain experience across all aspects of events and corporate hospitality.

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and job-share setting
  • A passion for delivering excellent customer service
  • Confidence in troubleshooting basic IT software and hardware
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work
