Job summary

Brook Street is recruiting a Transport Planner to join our busy Leigh operation on a temp-to-perm basis. You will allocate driver and vehicle resources, ensure WTD and Driver Hours compliance, and support efficient service delivery in a fast-paced logistics environment.

The role offers an immediate start, Monday to Friday 2:00pm–10:00pm, with a salary of around £37,000 per annum. Previous transport planning experience and good knowledge of UK road networks are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning or logistics planning.
• Good understanding of Driver Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive.
• Strong knowledge of UK geography and road networks.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review daily staffing levels and resource availability for each shift.
• Confirm driver start times and update planning systems accordingly.
• Manage driver hours in line with customer demands and volumes.
• Monitor Working Time Directive compliance and highlight concerns.
• Ensure correct vehicle and trailer allocation and maintain system accuracy.
• Review vehicle utilisation and identify areas for improvement.
• Maintain communication with drivers to ensure service levels.
• Liaise with Operations and Customer Service teams to resolve issues.
• Monitor driver performance and elevate concerns as needed.
• Support dispatch and driver debrief activities.
• Investigate late or failed deliveries and provide root cause analysis.
• Complete daily reports and spreadsheets accurately.
• Carry out end-of-shift checks and provide handovers.
