Job summary

Surrey Independent Living Charity is seeking a dedicated Support Worker/Personal Assistant to assist our friendly 21-year-old son in his family home in Reigate. The role focuses on evenings and occasional weekends, with training provided to support daily routines and use of assistive equipment.

The role requires compassion, reliability, and the ability to work independently in a home environment, supporting personal care, mobility, and engaging in leisure activities with the young adult.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting disabled adults or young people.
• Comfortable providing personal care.
• Has manual handling training or experience.
• Comfortable using a ceiling hoist.
• Can safely manoeuvre a powered wheelchair.
• Patient, dependable and compassionate.
• Can work independently within a family home environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with eating and drinking.
• Supporting with personal care routines.
• Helping with toileting, washing and showering.
• Assisting with dressing and bedtime routines.
• Using a ceiling hoist for transfers.
• Supporting safe use of his powered wheelchair around the home.
• Providing companionship and support with leisure activities.
• Occasional evening sitting/babysitting support while parents are out.
• Supporting short local outings on foot where appropriate.
