Job summary

SCC is seeking a Computer Repair and Refurbishment Technician for a permanent, on-site role in Birmingham. The PM shift runs 14:00–22:00, Monday to Friday, with a base salary of £26,227 plus generous benefits and volunteering days.

You will diagnose, repair, refurbish, and upgrade laptop and desktop hardware to “as-new” condition while maintaining strict refurbishment standards. The role requires security clearance or willingness to apply, and a minimum of 12 months hands-on experience in a

Qualifications

Minimum 12 months hands-on repair experience.
Experience refurbishing laptops/desktops to “as-new” cosmetic standard.
Strong problem-solving skills across various hardware components.
High manual dexterity and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and identify faults in laptops/desktops using diagnostic tools.
Repair, replace or upgrade faulty components (LCDs, memory, storage, fans, keyboards, batteries).
Update firmware/BIOS and reload operating systems.
Re-test equipment to ensure proper function and refurbishment quality.
Assess cosmetic condition and perform cosmetic refurbishments (vinyl coverings, labels removal).
Ensure data safety and complete data entry in SCC systems within SLAs.
Maintain security awareness and follow Health & Safety policies.
