Job summary

Oakham School is seeking a Catering Supervisor to oversee daily catering services on a rota basis. You will work to maintain high standards, supervise a team, and support staff training while ensuring services stay within budget.

The role requires strong knowledge of HACCP, sound food hygiene practices, and excellent customer service. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential to fit the school’s timetable.

Principal responsibilities

• Undertaking the role of Catering Supervisor on a rota basis, overseeing the smooth running of service
• Maintaining and improving standards of catering to ensure client satisfaction within financial constraints
• Assisting in the planning and delivery of staff training in line with the department's training plan
• Deputising for the Junior Manager as required
• Undertaking relevant training to further develop your own skills
• Carrying out day-to-day duties as directed by your line manager

What we are looking for

• Sound knowledge of food hygiene and food safety legislation, and HACCP procedures
• The ability to supervise, motivate, and lead a team effectively
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, together with excellent customer service
• Confidence in cash handling, till operation, and maintaining accurate records
• Previous experience within a catering, hospitality, or food service environment, with experience supervising staff an advantage
• A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends
• A professional, personable manner and high standards of personal presentation
• A relevant catering qualification would be desirable, though not essential
