Job summary

The King's School, Chester, working with Sodexo, is seeking a Catering Supervisor to lead the school catering team and oversee daily services, events and hospitality for pupils and staff. Salary is £13.30 per hour with a 35-hour week and a 5-day pattern.

Term time? Yes plus 4 weeks, with additional duties for school functions and events. Full training and protective uniform are provided as part of a supportive Sodexo catering team.

Qualifications

  • Hospitality, catering or events experience.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team during busy periods.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Good understanding of food hygiene, allergen awareness and health & safety.
  • Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends for school events.
  • Experience in education or independent school is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day catering operation to ensure food service & customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and support catering team to maintain high standards.
  • Coordinate with General Catering Manager and Head Chef for smooth daily services and events.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, allergen management and cleanliness.
  • Deliver a warm, welcoming hospitality experience for pupils, staff, visitors and guests.
  • Support planning and delivery of school functions, conferences and events.
  • Promote teamwork, on-the-job training, and continuous improvement.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Catering Supervisor to join our friendly and professional catering team.

What You Do
  • Supervise the day-to-day catering operation, ensuring excellent food service and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead, motivate and support the catering team to deliver high standards at all times.
  • Work closely with the General Catering Manager and Head Chef to ensure the smooth running of daily services and events.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health & safety, allergen management and cleanliness.
  • Deliver a warm, welcoming hospitality experience for pupils, staff, visitors and guests.
  • Support the planning and delivery of school functions, conferences and hospitality events.
  • Promote teamwork, provide on-the-job training and encourage continuous improvement across the catering team.
What You Bring
  • Has previous experience in hospitality, catering or events.
  • Is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Can lead, motivate and support a team during busy service periods.
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities.
  • Has a good understanding of food hygiene, allergen awareness and health & safety.
  • Is flexible to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of school events.
  • Experience within an education or independent school environment and a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate would be advantageous but are not essential.
