Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Catering Staff member at Abingdon School in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. You will support the daily catering service, helping with food prep, presentation, and service to students and staff while maintaining high hygiene standards.

The role is part-time, 20+ hours per week, across five days, term-time only. A friendly, reliable team player with prior kitchen or catering experience is preferred, with basic food safety knowledge and a can-do attitude.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy kitchen or catering environment.
• Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines and food presentation standards.
• Positive, reliable and professional approach to teamwork.
• Understanding of food safety, allergen awareness and hygiene practices.
• Confident working under pressure during busy service periods.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• Basic food handling certifications such as NVQ Level 2 and Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
• At least one year of hands-on catering or kitchen experience with training in Food Hygiene provided.

Responsibilities

• Oversee replenishment of food and maintain clean, organized service areas to a high standard.
• Support the preparation, presentation, and service of food in line with Sodexo's quality expectations.
• Assist with stock rotation, labeling, and food safety compliance.
• Provide warm, professional customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
• Work collaboratively with the wider catering team to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Follow all health, safety and hygiene procedures, contributing to a safe working environment.
