Job summary

Arriva is seeking a PSV Mechanic/Engineer to service, maintain and repair PSV vehicles, including involvement with diagnostics as the fleet moves toward electric buses. You will join a collaborative engineering team and participate in a 5-day, 7-shift pattern to keep our fleet moving safely and reliably.

The role requires a Level 3 qualification in Vehicle or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and a full UK driving licence; PCV/HGV is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as PSV/HGV mechanic or engineer (automotive, heavy vehicle, or rail considered).
• Level 3 qualification in Vehicle or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence (PCV/HGV desirable, but not essential).
• Electrical systems knowledge (desirable but not essential).
• Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintenance, and repair of PSV vehicles
• Mechanical and electrical fault finding and diagnostics
• MOT preparation and preventative maintenance inspections
• Vehicle safety inspections and quality control checks
• Roadside breakdown response and reactive repairs
• Using modern diagnostic equipment and workshop technology
• Working collaboratively within a skilled engineering team
• Shift work including earlies, lates, and weekends (5 days out of 7)
