European Project Manager: Drive Delivery & Growth

Job summary

United Rentals Europe is seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead our project delivery function on a national basis. You will drive planning, risk management, budgeting, and stakeholder communication across internal teams, external clients, and branch offices.

The role requires a track record in project management, strong leadership, and a safety-focused mindset. A Bachelor’s degree and certifications (IPMA/Prince2) are desirable, with experience in rental or turnaround projects preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Project Management, Engineering, or related field (Desirable).
• IPMA or Prince2 certification (Desirable).
• Strong business experience in a comparable project management role.
• Preferably experience in rental industries or turnaround activities.
• Knowledge of Power and/or Fluid products and rental solutions is a plus.
• Experience with matrix organizations and Lean or Six Sigma projects is a plus.
• Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety with ability to complete comprehensive Site RAMS.

Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Execution: Develop detailed project plans with objectives, tasks, deadlines, and resource allocation.
• Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, implementing timely resolutions.
• Monitor project progress and take corrective action when necessary.
• Manage project budgets, advise on cost calculations, and report financial performance to management.
• Ensure quality assurance through monitoring and evaluation.
• Produce regular progress reports for management and stakeholders.
• Lead and supervise project teams with professionalism and support.
• Schedule and allocate work activities to maximize efficiency and resource utilization.
• Provide training and mentoring to team members.
• Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to align expectations.
• Coordinate with temporary branch offices, Sales teams, and departmental leaders.
• Ensure clear, consistent communication across all project phases.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
• Conduct post-project evaluations to establish best practices and lessons learned.
