Job summary

Richard James Recruitment Specialists Ltd seeks an experienced European Gas and Power Scheduler for its London office. The role focuses on managing physical scheduling, nominations and market deadlines across European power and gas positions.

You will work closely with traders and operations, handling interconnector rights and adapting to new market rules in a fast-paced trading environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a numerate or technical subject such as Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Economics or similar.
• Experience within Gas and/or Power scheduling.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with traders, operations teams, counterparties and market operators.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise against tight deadlines.
• SQL, Python or Power BI experience for reconciliation, reporting or automation.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily balancing and nomination processes across European power markets, ensuring timely activity.
• Reconcile positions with trading teams and ensure nominations reflect traded volumes ahead of gate closure.
• Liaise with TSOs, counterparties and market operators to resolve nominations.
• Support the implementation and configuration of new European power markets, products and processes.
• Manage nominations relating to interconnector transmission rights and monitor capacity auction results.
• Support reconciliation of trading activity and assist with imbalance, settlement and operational queries.
• Produce ad hoc analysis and reporting to identify process improvements.
• Contribute to market change initiatives and onboarding of new markets.
• Provide operational scheduling support across European gas positions, including nominations and exception handling.
