Job summary
Chiltern is seeking a hands-on automation engineer to join its expanding European Technical Centre. You will work with an international team to support advanced electrical automation products across Europe, programming PLCs, troubleshooting faults, documenting processes and delivering training.
You will travel within Europe occasionally and contribute to product development and continuous improvement initiatives, with a salary in the £30k–£47k range plus benefits.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Software or Electromechanical Engineering.
- Around 1-3 years' industry experience.
- An understanding of PLC programming using Ladder Logic or Structured Text.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an inquisitive approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.
Responsibilities
- Program and configure PLC systems.
- Support engineers and customers with technical queries.
- Investigate faults and troubleshoot electrical and communication issues.
- Test and evaluate new products.
- Produce technical documentation, user guides and reports.
- Deliver technical presentations and training to European colleagues.
- Support new product development and continuous improvement projects.
- Occasionally travelling within Europe to support customers, attend exhibitions and collaborate with international teams.
