Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an experienced lawyer to join its EU Policy/Regulatory Legal team. You will own regulatory matters concerning EU and UK AI and digital regulation, provide practical legal guidance, and support engagements with regulators and policymakers.

Working with our AGC, you will assess developments, develop recommendations, and translate them into action across OpenAI's products and operations. We are looking for a hands-on lawyer who can work independently, balance competing priorities,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of legal experience in EU/UK regulatory matters.
• Qualified to practise law in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience advising on AI, tech, or digital regulation and managing legal workstreams independently.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned regulatory matters and workstreams concerning EU/UK AI and digital regulation.
• Provide practical legal advice and translate regulatory requirements into business guidance.
• Assess regulatory developments, risks and policy proposals, and develop recommendations for OpenAI.
• Collaborate with US and EU colleagues to deliver coordinated advice on cross-border matters.
• Draft input into policy positions, responses, and industry standards.
