Job summary

Mitchell Maguire Limited seeks an Estimator – Steel Fabrication to lead tendering and cost estimation for heavy and light steelwork projects across the North East and national opportunities. You will prepare take-offs, pricing, and handovers, working closely with clients and contractors.

The role requires robust estimating experience in structural steelwork, strong communication, and the ability to mentor junior estimators. Office-based in Middlesbrough with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must have Estimating experience within the structural steelwork or related sectors.
• Excellent communication skills across all levels.
• Experience with tendering, take-offs, pricing and handovers.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end tendering process, including take-offs, pricing, submission, and handover.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates using drawings, specifications, and estimating software.
• Manage tender opportunities, ensuring timely follow-ups to maximise conversions.
• Engage with clients and contractors through site visits, technical input, and value engineering to support bids.
• Collaborate with internal teams, lead handovers, and mentor junior estimators to strengthen delivery and capability.
• Oversee projects typically up to £10m in value.
