Job summary

Award Winning Specialist Subcontractor in Northampton or Staffordshire is seeking an experienced Estimator or Quantity Surveyor to join its team. You will prepare accurate and competitive tenders across a range of specialist construction projects, working with Tier 1 contractors, clients, suppliers and internal commercial and operational teams.

Candidates with an estimating background are preferred, but experienced Quantity Surveyors with drylining, fire stopping or related backgrounds who want

Qualifications

• Proven estimating experience within construction or specialist subcontracting.
• Experience in drylining and/or fire stopping highly advantageous.
• Experience tendering to Tier 1 contractors is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of drawings, quantities and tender documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive tenders across specialist construction projects.
• Collaborate with Tier 1 contractors, clients, suppliers and internal teams.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documents to drive winning bids.
• Assist in commercial and pre-construction activities.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, the business is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator, or a Quantity Surveyor looking to make the move into Estimating, to join its team.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to take a key role within an established and growing specialist subcontractor.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of specialist construction projects, working closely with Tier 1 contractors, clients, suppliers and the internal commercial and operational teams.

Candidates with an Estimating background are , but the company will also consider experienced Quantity Surveyors who have a strong background in drylining, fire stopping or a similar specialist subcontracting environment and are looking to move into an Estimating-focused role.

About You

Experienced Estimator

• Proven estimating experience within construction or specialist subcontracting.
• Ideally experienced in drylining and/or fire stopping.
• Experience working with or tendering to Tier 1 contractors would be highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, quantities and tender documentation.
• Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail.

Quantity Surveyor looking to move into Estimating

• Strong QS background within construction or specialist subcontracting.
• Experience in drylining, fire stopping, SFS, plastering or a related discipline would be particularly relevant.
• Good understanding of subcontract packages, costs, labour, materials and procurement.
• Commercially minded with an interest in developing a career within Estimating.
• Confident working with clients, contractors and the supply chain.
• Keen to develop estimating skills and take greater ownership of the pre-construction/tendering process
