Job summary

Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering is seeking an experienced Estimator to join the Sizewell C project. Based from Orwell Logistics Park in Suffolk, the role focuses on developing accurate cost estimates across labour, plant, materials and subcontract pricing using first principles.

The candidate will work with the project team and supply chain to refine methodologies, assess risks and align outputs with operations while agreeing working hours and cost constraints for the estimate.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to develop estimates from first principles with structured approach.
• Strong understanding of risk and opportunity in cost assessment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates in accordance with GSA policies and procedures.
• Review scope and design from drawings and specs to produce accurate costings.
• Record assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and support risk evaluation.
• Collaborate with project team and supply chain to develop methodologies.
• Develop labour, plant, material and subcontract pricing from first principles.
• Agree outputs with operations and confirm suitable working hours for estimates.
• Assist in project programme development with planner.
• Interface with third parties to resolve estimating issues.
