Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in estimating aluminium curtain walling, doors, windows, and/or facades.
• Strong knowledge of Logikal or similar software.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering drawings.

Thornton are a specialist construction contractor, providing design, fabrication, and installation services for roofing, cladding, glazing, and bespoke metalwork throughout the UK and Ireland. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Estimator to play a key role in the growth and success of our Glazing Division. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a client-facing role, has technical expertise in aluminium glazing systems, and enjoys both the challenge of estimating and the buzz of sales. As an Estimator, youll be responsible for managing the full tendering process and driving new business opportunities within the aluminium glazing sector. You will: Prepare cost estimates for curtain walling, windows, doors, and faade solutions using Logikal and ConQuest. Review architectural specifications and drawings to develop detailed project proposals and BOQs. Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless preconstruction and project handovers. Identify and build relationships with architects, developers, contractors, and private clients. Work on value engineering initiatives and propose cost-effective, compliant alternatives. Manage your own sales pipeline and contribute to wider company growth initiatives. Were looking for someone with: 5+ years experience in estimating aluminium curtain walling, doors, windows, and/or faades. Strong working knowledge of Logikal or similarand Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering drawings. A proactive approach to client engagement and sales follow-up. Superb communication skills and a collaborative team spirit. Experience in or understanding of fabrication, workshop, and on-site installation processes. Bonus Points For: A third-level qualification in construction, engineering, or a related field. Experience with CAD software (not essential, but beneficial). Previous success in developing and winning new business in the facade or wider construction industry.
