Job description

This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an ambitious Engineer with exposure to the UK piling, foundations, or ground and geotechnical engineering sectors. The position is remote with occasional site visits. A full UK driving licence is required; no visa or sponsorship is available.

The Role

Due to growth and increased workload, our client seeks an Assistant Estimator to support expansion plans. The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications and 2-3 years of experience in piling, foundations, or ground engineering, from any discipline (Site/Contract/Project Engineer, Estimator, Design Engineer, etc.).

Role Specifications

• Interpret specifications, engineering plans, and drawings to define scope of works.
• Analyze GI reports to identify ground risks and installation considerations.
• Review tender requirements against company procedures to select suitable engineering solutions.
• Understand and interpret designs provided by clients and internal teams.
• Conduct site inspections with the Contracts Team to assess conditions and risks.
• Review contract conditions and incorporate them into tender submissions.
• Maintain ongoing communication with clients regarding tender progress, using a CRM system.

The Person

• Experience in the piling or ground geotechnical engineering sector.
• Confident communicator with client relationship skills.
• Motivated to develop knowledge and achieve targets.
• Ability to identify and highlight potential risks in tenders.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2007 & 2015.
• Strong numeracy skills and data analysis ability.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; some knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Organized, deadline-oriented, and a team player with a full UK driving licence.
