Job summary

Lancer Scott, based in Bristol, seeks an experienced Estimator to deliver accurate pre-construction cost estimates for refurbishment and fit-out projects across multiple sectors. You will work with the preconstruction team to inform clients and secure commercial outcomes in a fast-growing environment.

Responsibilities include analyzing drawings and specs, collaborating with architects and contractors, and maintaining up-to-date cost databases.

Qualifications

• Proven experience estimating projects up to £3m in value.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, methods, and materials.
• Understanding of estimating software such as ConQuest and proficiency in MS Office, notably Excel.
• Strong commerciality, able to influence and win competitive tenders.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Job Description

What is the purpose of the role and expectations?

The successful applicant will play a key role in delivering accurate and competitive pre construction stage to for a wide range of refurb and fit out projects across a range of sectors. You will work closely with the preconstruction team ensuring commercially astute decisions are made and the client is supported and informed at all times. This is a new role due to an upturn in new projects that we are managing.

What will be my core responsibilities?

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and equipment.
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and other project documents to determine project requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and ensure all aspects of the project are covered.
• Challenge estimates and quotes to gain the most commercially beneficial outcome, balancing pricing, quality and availability.
• Assess risks and opportunities, factoring them into cost estimates.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
• Prepare tender submissions and support the bid process to secure new projects.
• Monitor and update cost databases remaining up to date with current market conditions and supply challenges.

Qualifications
