Job summary

Mitie Group is seeking an experienced Estimator for Mechanical Systems within the Sales & Estimating Department. You will analyse blueprints and specifications to create installation proposals for mechanical fire protection systems across the UK & Europe.

The role requires reviewing tender documents, liaising with clients, and developing detailed proposals. Travel within the UK and overseas is expected, with a focus on accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge of international fire protection standards (LPC, BS EN 12845, BS 9251, BS 5306, BS 9990, FM & NFPA).
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines amid changing priorities.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical abilities; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Review tender documents and consultant specifications and drawings.
  • Liaise with clients and attend meetings to discuss projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Survey and gather information to inform estimates.
  • Obtain project costs from suppliers.
  • Use CAD to develop blueprints and preliminary designs for estimates.
  • Use estimation software to develop fixed estimates.
  • Prepare detailed proposal documents with deliverables.
  • Monitor quotations and gather client feedback; assist in win/loss analysis.
  • Coordinate with projects, commercial and design teams during handover when awarded.

Location: The role can be based from either our Stourbridge office or London (The Shard) office
Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm Friday 9am – 4pm, but flexibility is required.

We are looking for an experienced Estimator, with previous experience within the fire protection sector, to join our busy Sales and Estimating Team

Estimator – Mechanical Systems

As an Estimator within in our Sales & Estimating Department, you will analyse blueprints & specifications to develop installation proposals in line with client requirements. This role is specific to mechanical projects, and will involve estimating and selling fixed fire fighting systems for a range of markets within the UK & Europe.

Responsibilities
  • Review tender documents including project specific consultant specifications & drawings
  • Liaising with clients & attending meetings to discuss projects
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients
  • Where required, survey and obtain key information to inform estimates
  • Contacting suppliers to obtain project specific costs
  • Utilise computer aided design software to develop blueprints and preliminary design to inform the estimate
  • Utilise in house calculation software to develop a fixed estimate
  • Develop a detailed proposal document complete with associated deliverables where applicable
  • Monitor and progress submitted quotations to obtain client feedback, negotiate & prepare win/loss KPIs and lessons learnt
  • Regular Dialogue with other departments across the business including, but not limited to, projects, commercial and design
  • Internal handover meetings upon project award
Essential Skills
  • Technical understanding of international fire protection related standards including LPC / BSEN12845, BS9251, BS5306, BS9990, FM & NFPA Systems
  • Experience within the special hazard market would be beneficial, but not essential
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities
  • Can demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and efficiency
  • Proven IT skills with experience of MS office packages
  • Friendly and outgoing personality with the natural ability to engage with customers/clients representing Argus Fire professionally and positively
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK & overseas
  • Strong commercial awareness with demonstrable numerical skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • Full UK driving license with less than 6 points
  • DBS check required
