Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services in the United Kingdom seeks a Major Projects Design Engineer to deliver detailed estimates for client projects, maintain contracts, and secure new opportunities. You will design fire safety and electronic security systems, coordinate with delivery teams, and ensure bids meet client guidelines and ISO standards.

The role requires strong communication, customer-facing skills, and the ability to visit client sites, with a focus on profitable, quality outcomes

Qualifications

• Experience in designing/engineering fire safety, electronic security and associated systems.
• Knowledge of BS Compliant Design requirements.
• Conversant with Aspirating Smoke Detection System design software.
• Knowledge of enterprise level Electronic Security Systems and integrated Security Management systems.
• Conversant with IT systems such as Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
• Ability to understand technical specifications.
• Be a strong communicator with relationship-building skills.
• Strong customer facing and service skills.
• Professional, self-motivated with initiative.
• Valid driving license with ability to visit client sites.
• Good sales and networking skills.
• Technical document/proposal writing experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Prepare cost budgets and cost estimates for new contracts.
• Keep existing contracts up to date, including amendments and new estimates.
• Produce detailed technical designs with Construction stage approval.
• Analyse estimations per company standards to maximise profit and client satisfaction.
• Prepare and submit detailed client proposals with supporting documents.
• Maintain relationships with existing clients and build new ones.
• Collaborate with the delivery team on development and innovation.
• Maintain records of design/estimation documentation and site assessments.
• Prepare cost/sales documents including client schedules of rates.
• Balance multiple proposals to meet deadlines.
• Liaise with other departments to drive profitability and innovation.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures and ISO standards.

Responsibilities (are to include the following but are not limited to)

• Prepare cost budgets and cost estimates for new contracts.
• Keep existing contracts up to date, including making amendments, providing new cost estimates, and maintaining communication with the client.
• Produce detailed technical designs that are fully co-ordinated and achieve Status A or B approval at Construction stage.
• Adhere to company standards and guidelines when analysing and providing estimations, focus on maximising profit and customer satisfaction with the client, while minimising any potential risks to the company.
• Prepare detailed and well-written proposals for each client, adhering to client guidelines while offering competitive and comprehensive cost estimates, and including supplementary documentation.
• Maintain relationships with existing clients keeping a sales-minded attitude, and seek out and build relationships with new clients.
• Work with the delivery team to help with development, innovation, and creativity on client projects.
• Keep detailed records of all design and estimation documentation, including site assessments and contract terms, update any existing contracts immediately upon agreement of new terms with client.
• Prepare and submit accurate cost/sales documents, including client schedule of rates documents.
• Balance multiple proposals and estimations at once, ensuring each reaches the client by the deadline.
• Liaise with other company departments to maintain business development and continuously innovate new profitable outcomes.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures set out by the company in order to ensure the safety of you, your colleagues and others. Also, adhere to the Company Health and Safety policy.
• Adhere to company rules and ensure compliance to ISO:9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2004.
