Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our pre-construction and tendering teams. You will analyse drawings, prepare detailed cost estimates and contribute to bid strategies from early enquiry through to submission, coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

The role requires strong awareness of procurement, cost control and risk assessment, with a focus on delivering accurate tenders and robust handovers to delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as an Estimator within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, costs and procurement.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

About The Role:

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 7:45 - 16:30 (9 Day Fortnight; every 2nd Friday off)

You will work closely with pre-construction, commercial, design, and operational teams, contributing to tenders from early enquiry stage through to final submission.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders for construction projects
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Attend tender review meetings and contribute to bid strategy
• Identify and assess commercial and contractual risks
• Maintain accurate records of estimate assumptions and exclusions
• Build and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners
• Assist with handover of successful tenders to delivery teams

Essential Hiring Criteria

• Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction industry
• Strong understanding of construction methods, costs, and procurement
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail
• Confident communicator with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tender deadlines

Desirable

• Experience working in highly regulated environments
• Background in main contracting or M&E estimating
• Relevant construction or commercial qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree)
